Book Week runs from Saturday 21st until Friday 27th of August and the theme is Across the Story Bridge. Lansdowne Crescent is extending the theme to ‘Across the Story Bridge the Gap’ to help improve Literacy Levels in Indigenous Australian Communities. Our Book Week Parade on Wednesday the 25th will be an opportunity for all children to come dressed as their favourite storybook character and take part in a parade at 12 pm! There will be a BBQ lunch (sausages available for a gold coin donation) and all funds raised will go towards Ian Thorpe Literacy Backpacks for Indigenous Australians ($200 each). The emphasis for costumes is ‘creativity over cost’ (finding bits and pieces from around the house to put together as a costume), and the most creative costume from K-2 and Grades 3-6 will go into the draw to win a 2010 Shortlisted Book Week Book. As children in PREP Langford and PREP Wearne have been studying a unit on Fairytales, they are asked to come dressed as their favourite Fairytale character to coincide with a special afternoon in their class. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to see Angela in the Library. Thank you.

The Election Day Cake Stall is always a great success and well received by the West Hobart community. This year, Lansdowne hopes to have three times the amount of mouth watering options available.
Are you able to contribute to our stall? Biscuits, slices and cakes sell out quickly. Other excellent donations include jams and condiments. Seedlings are also welcome.
More information can be obtained from our school office by phoning 6234 1030.
Your support would be greatly appreciated. | | | | 7/20/2010 3:45 PM |
As a celebration of Science Week, each class from Kinder through to Grade 6 will use children's literature as a stimulus for science.
On Friday 20th August, between 2pm and 3pm, you are welcome to visit all of our classrooms to view displays and participate in some hands-on science activities. | | | | 7/20/2010 3:44 PM |
After 38 years of dedicated service to the West Hobart community, Bill Bostock and his staff at BP West Hobart will hang up the petrol pump for the very last time. Customers (past and present), neighbours and friends are invited to join a
Guard of Honour in Arthur Street as they depart Thursday 22 July at approx 7.00pm. Well-wishers are encouraged to stand on the pavement on the north-western side of Arthur Street (between Hill St and Mary St). Children must be supervised by an adult. Bring some sparklers, your loudest claps and cheers, and help us give them the send-off they deserve.
A special presentation by Lord Mayor Rob Valentine will follow from 7.15pm at the Queen’s Head Café Bar. |
